The Village Hall is now open for bookings for a limited range of activities. In order to comply with Coronavirus guidelines, numbers are strictly limited. The kitchen is not available, and we have set up a one-way system for entry and exit. Hand-sanitiser is provided.
New bookings for classes and meetings are welcome - please contact us to discuss your requirements. All bookings are subject to risk assessment.
Restoration and improvements at the Village Hall
The Village Hall Committee is working on a programme of improvements and restoration work to take our Hall into its second century. Did you know that the Village Hall opened its doors in 1924? Now we're looking at what needs to be done to make sure it can continue to provide a welcoming space for our community for another hundred years.
Improving access from the hall to the garden
We intend to put in a garden door giving ramped access to the patio area at the rear of the hall. We have now received planning permission for this alteration - a big step forward! We are grateful for grant funding towards this project from the Co-op (Littlemore Road) and Oxford City Council Blue Bin Recycling League.
Removing the false ceiling
We are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and energy costs. Investigations have shown that the existing false ceiling will not take the weight of additional insulation. Our recent Energy Audit revealed that proper insulation at roof level, together with de-stratification fans, would be equally effective. Removing the false ceiling would also allow us to restore the original appearance of the hall, with a beamed roof, and to open up the three large windows in the gable end, increasing natural light.
We are now looking for external sources of funds to support this project.
