The Village Hall is 100 years old. We’ll be celebrating on Saturday 1st June, from 1pm – 5pm. Come and join us for free tea, coffee and soft drinks, and a range of activities for young and old. You could contribute to the celebration by taking part in the Great Littlemore Bake-off competition (free entry – for full entry and prize details contact [email protected]) or just come along and buy from our cake stall. There will be children’s activities, a tombola, and craft and gift stalls. You can learn more about the Hall, and its place in Littlemore life, from our historical display. We’ll also be showcasing our plans for the future. Restoration and improvements at the Village Hall The Village Hall Committee is working on a programme of improvements and restoration work to take our Hall into its second century. Did you know that the Village Hall opened its doors in 1924? Now we're looking at what needs to be done to make sure it can continue to provide a welcoming space for our community for another hundred years. Current projects Getting greener We are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and energy costs. Investigations have shown that the existing false ceiling will not take the weight of additional insulation. Our recent Energy Audit revealed that proper insulation at roof level, together with de-stratification fans, would be equally effective. Removing the false ceiling would also allow us to restore the original appearance of the hall, with a beamed roof, and to open up the three large windows in the gable end, increasing natural light. |
